Wild Greenland was started in 2019 by Stefan and Ginny, and has been running hiking, wildlife, glacier and fishing tours since. We’re a Greenlandic registered company, based out of Isortoq Reindeer Station, our nearest village is Qassimiut, and our nearest towns are Narsaq and Qaqortoq.

Meet the Team

Our wonderful Wild Greenland family keeps on growing as we meet more and more excellent people, who share our values, our passion for living off the land and our love for exploring. Some people collect stamps, we collect incredible friends.

Ginny- Adventure boss

Ginny has adventure in her bones. She has skied across the Greenland icecap and remains possibly the only person to make a cheesecake from scratch whilst doing so- an achievement she is extremely proud of!

Ginny is also obsessed with ice and spends all her spare time seeking out cold adventures. She is a qualified Wilderness First Responder and Jökla 2 glacier guide and has worked as a glacier and ice climbing guide in Iceland, led dog sledding teams in Norway, led hiking and glacier trips in Greenland and has a wealth of experience leading hiking trips around the world.

Stefan- Wild Wisdom

Stefan first visited Greenland as a 15 year old. Leaving his mother a letter about his plans, he set off by himself to explore. Stefan's mother, by this time rather worried, had contacted the police who eventually found Stefan and sent him home, but from that first trip a love for the country was born.

Stefan founded Isortoq Reindeer station in 1990 and has spent the last 30 years carving out a life in the wilderness. He studied agriculture in Iceland and reindeer herding in Norway and Sweden. He has an incredible knowledge of the outdoors and bushcraft and enjoys being able to forage, hunt, fish, prepare game and live off the land.

The Wild Greenland Family

freyja

Freyja

Freyja is Stefan’s daughter and grew up in Isortoq. She went on fishing and hunting trips with her family from about 3 years old and learnt to shoot when she was 5, using a small gun and aiming at balloons. She wants to be a pilot when she’s older and is currently studying business in Qaqortoq but still spends her summers in Isortoq. Her favourite part of living at Isortoq is the freedom and the incredible nature, though she thinks she might be biased because it’s her childhood home- but we have to agree!

Manitsiaq

Manitsiaq is Stefan’s son and grew up in Isortoq. He learnt to hunt and fish from a young age, hunting his first reindeer at 7 years old. He went to school in Greenland and Iceland, and now works for an Icelandic fishing company spending weeks out at sea. He still spends his summers in Isortoq helping run the station, fixing fences, herding reindeer, fishing, sailing; you name it Manitsiaq can sort it.
